Eligibility
Anyone in grades 6-12.
Requirements
After each team finishes hacking on the project, teams will submit their projects through a YouTube video and allow current professionals in the field of technology to assess and select the winners of the hackathon.
Unlike the previous iteration of XdHacks Mini, participants will not pitch or present their project for the online hackathon. However, participants are strongly encouraged to create a slideshow about their product to go along with the video. Their product should be a prototype, we don’t need any user interface and front end development going on. Even if the program itself isn’t finished that is fine. Your submission should simply show your thinking process when tackling the theme, and illustrate how you plan to solve your issue of choice with the beginnings of your solution. However, this is not a case competition and we want to see some practical work/coding done!

Ideation Hack
XD Hacks Mini SF strives to build a hackathon for everyone. Our Ideation Hack allows the complexity of projects to be significantly lower, opening the doors to elementary/middle schoolers, and students without any coding experience. An Ideation Hack is where you construct a business idea and build a pitch deck, website, or some type of prototype. Your hack will be judged from the perspective of a Venture Capitalist.
Traditional Hack
A Traditional Hack is your typical hackathon project. Over the course of 24 hours, you and your team will code an innovative project that best fits the theme of the hackathon.
Continuation Hack
Continuation Hacks are Hackathon projects that are being carried over from other hackathons. They will be judged based on the improvements that are made since the previous submission. We have noticed that students often abandon their projects after competing in hackathons. By opening a division for students to continue their projects we hope that they will be able to build more complex and thorough projects.
